Australia-based Horizon Oil has sold 40 per cent of its Papua New Guinea natural gas assets to one of Japan's largest utility companies Osaka Gas for USD204 million. The sale marks the beginning of a 60/40 strategic alliance between Horizon Oil and Osaka Gas.

Mitsubishi, Mitsui form JV to build ‘Sayaendo’ new-gen LNG carrier

Japan-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited (MHI) has signed an agreement with Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Limited to build a ‘Sayaendo’ series new-generation liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier. The ships of the Sayaendo series feature a unique structure that integrates the LNG tank cover with the ship’s hull, resulting in significantly improved fuel consumption and maintainability.

GDF Suez buys 9 per cent stake in Nabucco West gas pipeline

France’s energy group GDF Suez has acquired Austria’s oil and gas major OMV’s 9 per cent stake in the Nabucco West gas pipeline project. OMV, which initially had a 16.67 per cent stake in Nabucco West, had bought an additional 16.67 per cent stake in the project from Germany’s energy firm RWE in April 2013.
